Upconverting Dvd Vcr Combo Be Warned! Questions About My Tv And Buying A Dvd Player?

Questions about my tv and buying a dvd player? - upconverting dvd vcr combo be warned!

I have a new canvas is a 1080p HDTV on the road. Sony Bravia KDL-40V4100. My family is outdated and far behind the times in technology. Everything we have is a 4-head VCR and a bunch of VHS movies. I have a big discount (on this TV by my employer), the seller, so I went on and has a flat screen 40 "TV. It was $ 600 after taxes. Never get HDTV least likely (yet) but wanted the opportunity because, though not always.

I think my combination 4-head VCR / DVD player. I think I could get a combo DVD / VCR, while I (not much in the price) inside bin. For some reason ... Save room for later, I thought it must be recorded from VHS to DVD and VHS tapes to the uncomfortable - but now movies. I know that the quality of the VHS VHS - even if a DVD with the title, of course. But I have some questions: Can all DVD burners burn to a DVD directly from the TV? I know a lot of VHS recordings to DVD and vice versa, but I SEhas so far only said that you were right to establish, as could the TV-DVD.

Note that my family does not even cable - it regular TV reception with rabbit ears. I only wanted a thin TVs to reach the larger and easier to detect. A Blu-ray is certainly something that I retained. So what is my best bet for a DVD player? 1080p Upscaling DVD Player Will 'are best seen on television, the typical 480p or whatever you read normal DVD player? Or continue an upscaling DVD player (1080p) is a waste of money?

Second ... What exactly is "Upconversion"? Is it beneficial to have? I am a mystery how one can sense a "1080p" (or 1080) when a picture of 480 (or other) picture quality for DVDs?
